As always during Insecure Writers Support Group (IWSG) week, my Monday post will be short. Today, I bring you a brief glimpse of the Salem Maritime Festival, otherwise known as what I did this weekend.
For those of you who aren’t aware—and I suspect that’s most of you—Salem Maritime was the first National Historic Site established in the US. 1938 was the year, so 2013 marks the site’s 75th anniversary. Salem Maritime is made up of approximately nine acres along Salem Harbor plus a dozen historic structures and the Friendship, a replica tall-ship. If you ever have the opportunity to visit, jump on it. With the National Park Service hurting, who can say whether this historic site will survive another decade?
And how did you spend your weekend?
Hope to see you on Wednesday for IWSG!
